Holiday Gift Guide Roundup 2013

by farrah on December 7, 2013 · 9 comments

I am not someone to be making gift guides for anyone. I am, however, a big fan of people who have style that can make gift guides for me. Thus, here I have compiled a few of my favorite gift guides so far- with two specific gift choices at the end. Happy shopping!

Gifts for travelers 2013

For Traveling Families

  • I may be biased, but I really liked this Holiday Gifts For Travel Families from Travel Mamas. You have several picks from the entire Travel Mamas crew, which includes one daddy. There’s something for everyone here for sure.
  • Then there’s Thrifty Travel Mama Gift Guide. When I first saw the Thrifty Travel Mamas’s guide- I was inspired to create this post. I knew I wasn’t able to make my own- and her ideas are so great I wanted to share them.
  • My friend Keryn has a great gift guide at her website Walking On Travels. There’s something for every kind of traveler with the Ultimate Gift Guide for Travelers 2013. Additionally, she has a Fair Trade Gift Guide for Travelers too, which I thought was unique.
  • Samantha Brown has always been my traveling idol, and now that she’s a twin mom I love her that much more. Her gift guide can be found here, and personally I am digging her entire luggage set and WineSkin bags.
  • I love Skimbaco Lifestyle and the lady behind it- Katja Presnal. Her online magazine is truly eye candy- and she herself has quite the eye for photographs. She has compiled the gift guide grail to end all gift guides– look and find something for the traveling woman, man who travels, wine lovers and more. It’s really a perfect one stop guide.

For Everyone Else

  • Mommy Shorts has exploded over the past year- but in a good way. From what I know she’s now got a show where major celebrities are popping by her NYC apartment. Aside from that, she seems to have really great taste- so check out her gift guide if you’re looking for something awesome that’s been Ilana approved.
  • I’ve been reading Cool Mom Picks for years. They’re well known for having great gift guides, and I have taken some inspiration from them myself from time to time. Not sure if they have an official 2013 gift guide out yet (they probably will soon) but for now, there are these holiday ideas and you can check back later for more.
  • Wine In Mom has a great list out this year of her picks (based on experience) of toys for a three year old. Hey! I know three year olds! She’s in there with us in the trenches and has some ideas for you and yours.

My Gift Picks

Three Jane Map Necklace

  • For the mom/friend/etc If you’re willing to splurge, I highly  recommend the Three Jane Map Necklace. I was surprised with one of these from Sinterklaas yesterday! It’s an engraved map of someplace special, you pick. My husband chose our current home address- which I love. This is our first abroad experience and I want to always have a piece of this home with me. Plus, who can go wrong with a diamond chip marking your house? No one. The beauty here is that it could be for a traveler (say, the Eiffel Tower perhaps?) or where you met, or ANYWHERE.  So basically this is for anyone.
  • For a kid I suggest an adopt-an-animal from the Defenders Of Wildlife program. “Defenders of Wildlife is well-known and respected for their innovative and science-based work to protect endangered species and their habitats,” said Karen Brown, former Director of Programs for RedRover, another national animal protection group that focuses on companion animal issues. With so many animals to choose from- and price points, there’s really no way you can go wrong here. I have been very happy adopting as a gift- and depending on which package you choose- a stuff animal can be included. My boys LOVE this as a gift to give.

Have a great gift guide or spotted one? Feel free to link it in the comments.

Nothing to disclose. If the sites in my links have affiliates that’s within their website and has no influence for choosing their guide. Photos courtesy of Thrifty Travel Mama and Three Jane websites.

That necklace is such a cool gift! And I believe my kids are going to be receiving animal adoption gifts from some relatives – I hope they like them 🙂

Thanks for the gift guide links – I’d seen some, but not all. And of course I’m not done with my shopping!

Yay! We adopted a blue whale in memory of a friend who lost her 2 month old to SIDS, which is why I was doing research on the legit organizations a while ago. We watch so many animal shows too, I think a child that has a passion for animals would really love the idea that they ‘have’ a whale/wolf/etc out there that they are helping.
