What Last Week Looked Like vs. What It Felt Like

Whenever we’re in a a lull between trips- I feel like there’s a sense of electricity in the air, and not the good kind. The kind that’s filled with tension and irritation and potential for explosion. The kids are still in school- but with nice weather (ok, so that’s a relative term considering it has been pretty chilly here for ‘summer’) they’re all acting a little bonkers. Add in the fact that last week my husband was in the US for work and the situation here was enough to drive me to the asylum.

What’s difficult is that they appear so darned sweet and innocent. Kind of like that movie ‘Gremlins’ from 1984. For example, this is what the boys look like on the outside:

And this is what it felt like living with them:

It has just been a very long and trying week. I lost my watch for days (found it in an old shoe), we had two field trips, house showings, birthday parties, etc-  and to top it all off at the bottom of my purse I found this:

So basically I have had enough and just looking ahead to July when we’re out of school, go on vacation to Dordogne and the grandparents arrive. Because a break is very, very, very much needed.

If you’re unfamiliar with Gremlins (the little monsters pictured above) you should probably watch that soon. Especially if you have 3 or 5 year olds.

Happy weekend!

We always joke that Jack is like a gremlin at times.

I never really thought about it until this past week. I had some great pics of them, but omg! they were crazy people.

The weeks always seem crazier when husband is gone and I no i have no back up!

It’s Murphy’s Law I suppose 🙂

The juxtaposition is perfect. I know exactly what you mean! Everyone always tells me my kids are so sweet and kind and lovely….IN PUBLIC! But get us behind closed doors (or hungry or tired or moody…) and POW! It’s crazy town.

It’s true. For all of us. Except if we DON’T feed them or give them snacks and water….
