Helping Ashley: Hope For Tomorrow #CareForCapps

Over the weekend an unspeakable tragedy happened to someone I have cared about for a long time. Along with several friends I’ve had over the past seven years, I learned that a husband took his life leaving his young wife and small children behind. Words fail me at expressing how tremendous a shock this has been, and I am left at a loss for what to do or how to help. The only way I know how is to share, share and spread this story so that any and all assistance can go to helping Ashley and her family.

Ashley and I started our blogs about the same time. She had an insight that I lacked, and I often reached out to her for help. She taught herself how to build a successful, relatable and well-written website in the mom-blogging niche. Over time, she evolved as did her website. She started her own fitness and weight loss journey which inspired and encouraged thousands of people. I know she helped many in countless ways and it’s time that the blogging world come together to help her.

The mom’s group- that I have mentioned many times in the past, has put together an eloquent Go Fund Me project to help Ashley financially through this time. Their words are better than mine, so I’m sharing them for you to read:

On Friday, April 17, Emma (8), Micah (6), and Maisy (3), very suddenly lost their beloved father, Andrew Capps, when he took his life at age 28. These young children lost not only an irreplaceable part of their family, but also the person who was their primary financial support.

Ashley, their 27-year-old mother, relied on her husband’s income to keep a roof over their heads and to pay for childcare while she worked as well. They are left not only emotionally devastated, but will now also need help in dealing with the financial burden of this tragic loss as well.

Ashley has a promising career in social media, which she originally kicked off with a popular blog she built from the ground up. Her hard work and enterprise eventually led to a new career in social media marketing. We have no doubt that Ashley will continue to rely on her ingenuity and deep strength to usher her children through this time of grief and come out strong on the other side.

But in the meantime, this family needs help not only with medical and funeral expenses, but also with the costs of keeping Emma, Micah, and Maisy in the house they call home and the childcare that will allow Ashley to continue to work to keep them afloat through this tragic time.

Andrew’s death has left the Capps family bereft. When someone so young takes his own life, it is an unmistakable tragedy. When that person is a father of three young children, a deep crisis is left in his wake.

Ashley, Emma, Micah, and Maisy need your help. Every single dollar will help as they try to find their way in their new lives. Please give whatever you can to help this family. Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and financial contributions through this extremely difficult time.

We have known Ashley for seven years as a collective of mothers who lean on each other for support, advice, and hope. She has been there for each of us whenever we needed help along the way. Now we want to be there for her and her amazing children. Ashley was incredibly hesitant to let us post this to raise some money for her, but we finally convinced her that it is okay to ask for help.

I encourage you to go to the Go Fund Me site here and see the photos of her family. If anything else, sending positive thoughts to them in their time of need is greatly appreciated, and any monetary donation you might be able to give (nothing is too small!) is a precious gift. Thank you for reading, sharing and supporting her family in their time of loss.
